Fermentation Education Series Pt 1 of 3 “Sauerkraut Stomp”
Tuesday, September 18, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
When: September 18, 6:00pm
Where: City Lights Brewing Co.
First Session Admission: $30 for FOD Members, $35 for Non-Members, includes your kraut.
Class Description: Learn the scientific concepts and skills to begin a basic fermentation project, sauerkraut. This is a hands-on workshop where participants will cut and pound their way through many heads of cabbage on the path to sauerkraut. You’ll enjoy a rollicking, beer-inspired kraut making session and take home a passel of recipes and your own ‘crock’ of baby-kraut to watch through the fermentation process. Get your Oktoberfest started with homemade kraut!
We will also have an additional guest speaker at each session to discuss the beer we will be tasting, as well. Our Sept event will feature a discussion with the Brewmaster from City Lights! This certainly is a fun and fizzy fermentation event!
About the instructor: Christina Ward teaches notoriously raucous preservation classes and serves as a volunteer mentor to urban farmers, small-scale food producers, and question answerer for people all over the country trying to save their pickles from disaster. She loves simplifying complicated scientific concepts and explaining them with precision and humor.
